Empowering women through sustainable basket weaving and natural dye production to promote economic independence and preserve traditional craftsmanship.
About us
Rubona basket weavers association was established in 2005 with the vision of organizing and uplifting women in the Bunyangabu District through skills in weaving and natural dyeing processing guided by a dedicated board of management, we empower 200 women members to create sustainable livelihoods and preserve traditional crafts.
Location
Base of operations: Rubona town council Bunyangabu District
Proximate: Located 22km from Fort Portal town along Fort Portal Kasese Road.
Our objectives
To create a well organized platform for women in hand crafts and natural dye processing
To promote the use of natural resources for sustainable and echo friendly crafts
To enhance skills creativity and financial independence among our members
Our activities
Weaving, Producing high quality woven products that reflect our culture and artistry.
Natural dye processing, Creating echo friendly dyes using traditional methods and locally available materials
Capacity building, offering training sessions to improve member’s skills and creativity
Community outreach, showcasing our products in local regional markets, fostering awareness of sustainable crafts.
